The lakers obviously got a lot of help in this game, but i am just wondering if any lakers fans have the balls to admit it?

Yes, I am a Lakers fan and it's obvious they got help, but it's been the same story for all home teams during the playoffs. Home teams are 19-1 in the second round, and the refs have been a huge part of that.

They definitely got calls they didn't get in Salt Lake City, so yes they got some favorable calls. Whether or not that is the reason they won is debatable. You cannot deny that turnovers cost the Jazz this game. Deron Williams was pretty good, but twenty some turnovers on the road means you will probably lose. Also, the Jazz led the league in fouls in the regular season, so its their style of play, not a conspiracy for the Laker-Celtic final.

Now, do you not admit that the Jazz had an advantage over the Lakers at home?
The Lakers did get a lot of help...from their bench, their improvement of free throw shooting, improvement on Offensive/Defensive Rebounds, Kobe drawing the double team to allow open teammates. All which were big improvements from game 4.

Yup...Lakers did get the help they needed from one another...hopefully it will continue to game 6, if not then I know it will in game 7 ;)

The are in serious danger of falling out of the playoffs. Kobe has been incosistant since his 50-point a game binge. And they have nobody to pick up that kind of scoring slack (no one consistant enough). I hope they take the 8th spot. My buddy is a Lakers fan and I would love for my Mavs to knock them out of the playoffs.

They'll finish 7th seed. The Nuggets are playing better so they'll secure 6th. And I don't think Golden State will move past 8th seed because they're too inconsistent. Also I agree with you that attacking the basket and their defense are two things they need to work on. But in order to win a championship this team needs two other things. One is a point guard because Famar is too young and Smush Parker is not that great at all. Two they need Kobe to be a more consistent leader. That doesn't just mean taking over when needed (and yes I know he does do that). But it also means making his teammates better. The Lakers have got to be more of a balanced team on both ends of the floor. Until that happens they'll never win. As for this year they're going to lose in the first round.
The lakers will go into the playoffs in the 7th spot and lose to the suns in the first round in 5 games. They could have been in the sixth spot but they choked and the nuggets took the spot and now have a 1.5 game lead on them. Also, they nuggets have beat the lakers 3 out of 4 times. They won't make it past the first round or even come close. Period.

Everyone wants to say no because he was handed great players and teams. But if you stop and think about it, these great players and teams didn't start winning until he came along. This season should erase any doubt when it comes to his level of competency. Phil Jackson is without a doubt, the greatest coach the game has ever seen. And he's not even finished yet.

Phil Jackson is the greatest coach of his time. No one else in modern times has done what he has. It's really hard to compare coaches from different generations. I think that both Red and Phil are the greatest coaches of their time.

The Lakers might not win a championship this year, but I do think that they will pick up a championship next year and maybe a few more the other following years. As of right now, the Celtics have 16 NBA titles and the Lakers have 14. So, is it possible that the Lakers might surpass the Celtics in titles in the next few years?

YUP!! They will win in 6 and take back their championship to LA!! I think the Celtics might get one, but the Lakers are creating a better dynasty. Kobe will be the best in the NBA for about 8 more years and Bynum will soon be the "Next Shaq" (not to say that D. Howard won't), and Gasol will be a Laker for life and be a Worthy/ Pippen type!!! So, if the West doesn't get stronger (if LeBron James doesn't come to the Warriors) the Lakers should be able to get 3-4 rings in the next 8-9 years!!!
I don't think so the Celtics will win this Year in the NBA Finals so that will be 17 Titles still more then the Lakers.

Of course they can. Kobe is leading a lot of young guys, once the team ge healthy most especially Luke Walton, they will come back where they belong, on the top.

I know it's tough , but you will have to realize it is one of those obstacles that a team must survive to come out as a great team.

at their best, the Lakers are still only the 5th or 6th best team in the west. Personally, I think Kobe has won his last title. He can't win by himself, they have nothing to offer in trade, and it will be hard to sign another superstar. Last time the Lakers had a 2nd star, Kobe ran him off. The guy cares more about being "the man" than winning titles.
If they can find a way to play defense, yeah, its possible. Right now their problem is defense. They are the 2nd worst in the NBA in giving up points. Its sad!

Dribble penetration kills them every single time. This was exposed last year in the playoffs and you would think the Lakers coaching staff would of capatalized on it by now. Other teams see this is there weakness and they take advantage of it.

If they just focus on playing defense and not worry about all the injuries, they should be fine.

The last 6 losses were more psychological, Phil Jackson mentioned it yesterday when the players names were mentioned in possible trades, they become insecure, forget about the game and are more worried about being sent elsewhere. Now that the deadline is over, that shouldn't be an issue with them. So they canjust focus on defense.

Lakers have to stay healthy. Kobe has to be more consistant and have mixture of his playing now and his #8 days. His sidekicks are averaging players who is getting the job done and will become better as they gain more experience. Odom needs to be 100% healthy because he is their #2 option. Them Walton needs to come back and continue where he left off before the injury. Kwame Brown was doing good, getting his rebounds and with Bynum getting his blocks and rebound young and talented. Jordon Farmers needs to stay hot at the 3 point line. Smush Parker needs to have those games when hes on fire. Maurice Evans needs to play better so Kobe can get more rest. Vladmire has to shoot better and try 2 establish a low post game and brian cook has to chill with the bad timing shots and have fews game when hes on fire. Turaif . The bench needs to play before when the team winning. If all that happen lakers should have winning streaks like the suns and mavericks. Also take pressure of kobe, kobe will decrease his shot selection and pass more. He will become the Seasons MVP and Lakers has a big cnace to even go back to the finals
I think they can because one Luke Walton is coming back and he sets the floor up well. two is that again Phil Jackson is the coach the zen master that he is and all. Lamar Odom has to be aggressive and if his knee gets better then the team will do better. remember before Odom's injury he was having career numbers. I think they can move up if they start playing better defense they are not playing the same defense as last year.

i think the population of LA is so big that it can support both teams. the people that support the clippers are probably those who couldn't get tickets to see the lakers. i used to like the clippers. for the last 5 years they have been doing fairly decent. if they were in the east they would have made it to the playoffs a while ago. its because they are in the west where teams with .500 aren't even guaranteed a spot.

they have always had some good players too and high draft picks. if you are a fan of the sport you would have probably went to see Lamar Odom, Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson back when they were on the team.

The Lakers will give it their all so that they will try to make Garnett regret choosing Boston over LA. If LA plays well like they did against Phoenix, they could definitely beat the Celtics.
Just have to look at how they are both playing and right now Boston is a pretty powerful offensive team, though they are not a defensive team they will have the ability to beat the Lakers as the Lakers just dont have the firepower to beat the Celtics. Bynum vs garnett ouch and Pierce vs Odom another miss match and Bryant vs Allen well we will give that to Kobe, but that alone right there gives them a pretty hefty lean towards the Celtics

I like Bynum in the post as he is getting better and is young, but Garnett in the post is unstoppable especially when he has to all stars to kick it out too and there is really no way to double team all three so somebody is going to have 1-1 and be able to beat the other. Kobe would have to drop 50+ and Celtics have an off night with Farmar and the bench putting up good points and boards. Nothing is imposible in basketball as teams have bad nights or they are just lights out and can hit from any where. But on a average night Celtics win by 15+.

When they play one another the Celtics will show you that they are the best team in the NBA. Kobe like always will have his fair share of points but might not meet his average on this one. Ok, Boston is 16-3 in the finals. Lakers are 14-14. So Boston has more wins and a much better percentage. They are the "winningest" (what a silly word) franchise.

On the other hand, the Lakers have been contenders almost consistently (Magic Johnson and Del Harris Coached teams withstanding.) They are the more storied franchised. You could, theoretically, make a list of the greatest Lakers of all time and put them up against the best 5 players from the rest of the NBA and the top 5 Lakers would win. The fact that players like Norm Nixon, Michael Cooper, Byron Scott and A.C. Gren do not have their numbers retired when they would have been retired with almost any other team is very telling.

Not a Lakers fan, but let's be honest, they are improving as we speak. If Bynum continues to have monstrous plays (don't count that Celtics game..., Celtics are the best in league defense this season), he will become a great center. Fisher is good at preventing the team from going wild (good leadership that Kobe lack). Odom is slowly working out of his slump. Turiaf, Rad, and few other are good role players.

As long as Kobe let his teammates touch the balls (he has been doing that and their December turned out to be great), his teammates will have more chances to improve.

By the way, it is not fair to compare Lakers and Celtics right now. Two teams are having different approach in management. Lakers way is going to work, but it takes time. Even if Lakers could trade for a super star, who will they get to beat Celtics? LeBron James? Dwayne Wade? Who else's a super star? Why do you even need super stars? Remember the Fantastic Four lost to the Pistons in 2004?

Celtics overcame 22 point deficit and nearly beat the Magics (they were tired after the come back). They lost to LeBron by one point (yeah, LeBron pulled that show just like he did against Pistons). They then lost to Piston because a really stupid foul was committed.... however, they have not be tested by the Spurs (no super stars) yet. Until then, we will know if the super star teams could be the true champion.

I'd say the Celtics players the harder and bette rteam. I think everyone could see that the Spurs tried at first, especially in game 1, but they fell short towards the end of virtually every game they lost due to their fatigue. Class A example is game 1, the Lakers took adantage of their airline hinderances and upset them.

TheSpurs could not bounce back.

The Piston on the other hand are as good as any other WCF team. Both the Celtics and Lakers deserve to be in the Finals but I give the edge to the Celtics.

Definatly the lakers. The spurs are defending champs, not to metion have won the title like 4 out of 9 years i think. But you gotta look at the whole playoffs too. The lakers got matched up with the 50 win nuggets and swept them. The Celtics got the 36 win hawks, and almost lost the series. Then it almost happend again next series... And im not really sure about the pistons being the second best team, at least not this season... I dont care what the celtics did in the regular season the lakers are just better. And the celtics will have way more matchup issues gaurding the lakers. KG is the only problem for them. But other than that the celtics are a jump shooting team, and there is no way they will be able to keep up. I look for vladi to be great in this series. And shasha should be able to get off many more 3's this series.

with bynum out, the lakers are due for a HUGE slump. im guessing they finish the season with about a 45-37 record. this will give them the 6th-8th seed, which means they'll have to play a team like Phoenix, San Antonio, and Dallas. With Bynum just a few weeks returning from injury, he wont be himself, and Kobe cant beat a team like the Spurs by himself either. Lakers out in the first round.

i think the Lakers can definitely make it past the first round this year.

First their success on the road this year and their ability to stay in games (that would have been blowouts last year) - means that homecourt advantage isn't as important as in past years.

i think they can be one of the most dangerous teams in the playoffs (especially once they get Bynum back).

They match up pretty well against most of the teams in the West. i think unless they face the Spurs in the first round they have a good shot to get past the first round.

They have a deep bench, and once Bynum gets back it'll open up the lanes for Kobe and there will be two people that have to be double-teamed.

Their seed will obviously be lower than had Bynum not been injured- but we've seen they've the potential to be the best in the West and in a 7 game series anything can happen.

to baseball fans, it's not "pointless and boring", it's slow paced and interrupted occasionally by brief moments of terrific excitement. Have an open mind and watch a few more games, ask fans why they find the game fun to follow, then, if baseball is not for you, fine. But don't ever say its boring and pointless, it's not to a kazillion other people around the world.

There is a lot going on - definitely not boring and pointless. Baseball is not just about pitching and hitting. There is strategy in every move - every step- every position.

Some call it a thinking man's game. I suggest that next time you go to a baseball game, bring someone that knows and loves baseball. Have him/her explain what is going on as the game unfolds.

You might have a very different opinion of MLB baseball afterwards.

Baseball is the most intellectual game in the world. There are so many aspects one has to think about. Every pitch is a new game. One must have great focus to play or watch for that matter. So many different things going on at once. When I watch baseball I get so ******* excited. Every movement on the diamond is exicuted with such percision. Nothing is ever the same. It may be similar but never the same. You don't have to use your brain in any other sport like you do baseball. A game of chess has nothing on the mental energy you must put out to play baseball. It took me 20 years to stay 100% focused for all 9 innings of the game if not more innings. Theres so much going on that you can't catch it all.

I HATE THE BASEBALL!! even that i born and growth in dominican republic a rich place in baseball population but when i came to new york i love ittttttttttttttttttttttttttt when a saw the yankee stadium i started watching the yankees classics on yes and all was like magic and i LOVE IT !!!!!!

Therefore a 1-7 record would indicate 1 Win and 7 Losses.

This is different from "The Count" which is the number of balls and strikes a batter has accumulated over the at-bat so far. Example: A 3-2 count or "full count" (3 Balls, 2 Strikes)

it sounds like you have great potential in baseball but it mostly matters how much you love the sport. If you really like the sport then you should go for it!!!
If that's your dream, you should go for it. Just keep working hard and try to get good coaches that can really help you. Play during the regular season and winter ball and if you can you should look into a traveling team. Good luck!

Project that against stronger competition and you have a ways to go but with practice on the hitting you can have a chance.Work on your hitting in a batting cage and look for contact,with the speed it could be a plus if you can get on base and make things happen.Scouts look at how you can help the team so how can you help the team at the plate is the key,work on getting good jumps and increase those steals.It is a plus that you can play all the outfield positions but remember so can alot of other players your age.With that arm,possibly try pitching.
Sure why not? Just that not many people end up on famous teams you know. But someone has to and you could be one!
as a young player I dont mean to crush your dreams but if your going to play at the next level you pretty much need to be the best one on the field by far in little league 20 games i had 10 HR and hit .400 and pitched a complete game every other game and had 9 shut outs and after high school I tried to keep playing but everyone else moving up is at least as good or better you better get to the cage...
